What is the best advice when babysitting? What is the best way of entertaining a child?

be really excited and it obviously doesn't matter how clever you are, so say things like ';hey man! WANNA PLAY MONOPOLY!!'; anything that you're positive about will sound interesting to a kid. What is the best advice when babysitting? What is the best way of entertaining a child?
ok so what I used to do is BE A child myself and by the time it was 7pm the child I was babysitting was POOPED and in bed

Play physical games...field tag, read stories, multi task so you make the child's brain stimulated BUT tired :)

Entertain them by:

Play board games while a disney movie is on, then do a dance contest, make weird faces, play a guessing game, play field tag, play stretching game (but you actually have to know the human body and how to properly stretch it etc), Figuire out what their into before you go in and know about those things so then you can relate to them so they will listen to you, go to the park and let them play while watching but you play too!...

Go swimming, go for a hike in the woods and talk about tree's and birds and insects and stuff..kids LOVE learning and LOVE nature!!!

Be a child ask yourself ';what would I want to do with someone I really didn't know...';

CheerzWhat is the best advice when babysitting? What is the best way of entertaining a child?
When you babysit do not be distracted by being on the 'phone or watching TV. Pay attention to the children. Make sure you have a list of important numbers from the parents in case something happens. Ask if the children have any allergies, medical conditions, medicines or special needs. Find out what there usual routine is. When do they eat, what should they eat, when is bath time, when is bed time? As far as entertaining them, it depends on what age they are. Most children, you can just look around in their toy box and sit down and play with them, babies sometimes just like to be held and rocked. If they are old enough to talk, they can tell you what they would like to do. Just make sure it is safe.
Definately movies, depending on the age, play with toys, simple activities like baking cookies, painting, colouring and drawing. Perhaps puzzles, let them show you how good they are at playstation if you have one. Or I have found the favourite to be a simple game of hide and seek. They always love that. Also let them read to you if they are good at it and like reading, or read to them, again, depending on the age group.

Hope it helps
Just be able to go with the flow. Ask the kids if they want to do anything. They'll probably have ideas. If not, suggest a simple game:

Tag

Hide and seek (If you're the seeker, make sure to peek so you don't lose the kids)

Ring around the rosy

etc.

Ask to see their toys, and play with them. Littler kids think its funny if you tell them that a toy looks too grown up with them, then pretend that the kid must be at least 25 or 30 years old.
treat them like a sibling (if ur a teen)...color with them, bake cookies, have them take u into their room n show u their toys, watch movies and get in good with them so when u say its bed time..they follow rules.

dont ignore them tho by textn or talkin on ya phone. pay attention to them, they could b very needed or sneaky brats.
depends on the age. Chances are they know how to entertain themselves just play along. Never talk to them like they are a child. They understand what your trying to do and will hate you for it. Just talk the way you normally would to anyone else and you will get respect.
When I babysat with kids once I brought with me a TON of magazines of all kinds (there were two girls and a boy between the ages of 8 to 11) and had them to collages for the front of their binder(s) for school. They loved it!!
Let them draw stuff/arts%26amp;crafts/creative stuff. Also incude a diary at the end of the day where you ask the kids what they did that day and show it to the parent.
if the child is small get down to their eye level and be sweet and say you wanna play this and you wanna play this and stuff like that
I have always had the best luck will kids when I talk to them. Tell them what's going on, say Hi and so on. But no baby talk, actually talking.
get coloring books and crayons. little crafts or simple baking project. or just take them to the park. i babysit for a job over summer. not hard at all
Cartoons, dvds, age-appropriate learning activities and games.
whatever you do, don't set them in front of the television the whole day...
popular kids' movies and food.
Play with them and their toys.
